Executive Director– Arvind Shaw

Generations Family Health CenterGenerations Family Health Center, Inc. serves the broad expanse of Connecticut’s eastern counties meeting the health care needs of people from 33 towns. Established first as a part-time free clinic in 1984 associated with the Community Action Agency, GFHC incorporated in 1991 as an independent organization, known then as HealthFirst.

With a staff of physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, GFHC provides comprehensive primary care and dental care in more than 30,000 patient visits annually. Generations Family Health Center is affiliated with Windham Hospital, Day Kimball Hospital and Backus Hospital, and the medical staff hold positions at Yale University School of Medicine and the University of Connecticut.

Generations Family Health Center’s three locations are designed to make health care accessible to a largely rural patient population who have limited transportation. As with all community health centers, GFHC provides health care to individuals who have been under-served. Over 30% of GFHC’s patient population is Hispanic or Latino. The Generations Family Health Center centers offer culturally appropriate, accessible health care.
