Generations Family Health Center

Family Health Center, Inc. serves the broad expanse of
Connecticut’s eastern counties meeting the health care needs of
people from 33 towns. Established first as a part-time free clinic
in 1984 associated with the Community Action Agency, GFHC
incorporated in 1991 as an independent organization, known then as
With a staff of physicians, nurse practitioners,
and physician assistants, GFHC provides comprehensive primary care
and dental care in more than 30,000 patient visits annually.
Generations Family Health Center is affiliated with Windham
Hospital, Day Kimball Hospital and Backus Hospital, and the
medical staff hold positions at Yale University School of Medicine
and the University of Connecticut.
Generations Family Health Center’s three locations
are designed to make health care accessible to a largely rural
patient population who have limited transportation. As with all
community health centers, GFHC provides health care to individuals
who have been under-served. Over 30% of GFHC’s patient population
is Hispanic or Latino. The Generations Family Health Center
centers offer culturally appropriate, accessible health care.
